About the Author


Author of “The Complete Idiot’s Guide® to Girlfriend Getaways” (Alpha Books, 2009), Lisa Kasanicky is also the creator and chief spa girl of Arizona Spa Girls (AZSpaGirls.com), a girlfriend-to-girlfriend guide that speaks to a new generation of spa enthusiasts. With a writing career that spans more than 20 years, Kasanicky has developed spa and travel guides for the Arizona Office of Tourism and The Arizona Republic and has served as spa editor for ITEM magazine and as beauty editor for East West magazine. She was a regular beauty columnist and features writer for the Republic’s family of custom magazines, including AZ, YES and Arizona Woman and has contributed to special newspaper sections, including the California Travel Guide, Super Bowl Visitor’s Guide and Greater Phoenix Relocation Guide. Her work has also been featured in Healing Lifestyles & SpasLeisure Group Travel and the International Spa Association’s PULSE magazine. She is currently a regular contributor to So Scottsdale! and Uptown magazines.

As the go-to gal for spas and beauty, she has been cited as an expert source in numerous publications and appears regularly on ABC’s Sonoran Living, among others. In 2006, she co-founded the Summer Spaaah Series, events that tour spas across greater Phoenix with a mission of educating the public on beauty and wellness while supporting Fresh Start Women’s Foundation. During the summer of 2009, she published the SpaBound Summer Passport, a unique print publication that brought value to spa and travel enthusiasts while generating business for the resort community during their off-season. Lisa was named among the coolest people in the Valley of the Sun by Phoenix Magazine in 2008 for her work as the “Spastress.” A graduate of North Carolina State University and a native Floridian, Lisa and her husband (aka, the “spa boy”) currently reside in Scottsdale, Arizona.
